CARCASSONNE 2017

This medieval, walled fortress is called Carcassonne. We only spent a few hours here but my favorite things were the fantastic cassoulet I tried and learning about meurtrières, or “murder holes”. Those are the thin slits in the towers, just wide enough for an archer to get their arrow out to defend the city.
