Hello there! Summer, here.
It’s grown harder over the years to write an ‘about me’ section. How do I summarize my existence in a compelling way? That’s the thing - existence hasn’t felt compelling for some time. I want to say I am so many things, but they’re parts of me from long ago and so it feels cheap to say I am that person anymore.
I want to use this space to reconnect with myself, lost from years of the grind. I want this to be a collection of memories, happy moments along the way, introspective journal entries, and works in progress. I know many of us are in the same boat, so I hope that if you’ve ever felt alone, you’ll see someone like yourself in me.
I guess I’ll share a little about me that still stands true:
I was a Linguistics major and French minor.
I’m a certified Pilates teacher, practice meditation daily to ward away the blues, and dance poorly in public to embarass my husband.
I’m obsessed with world foods, unique and ancient food practices, and love to tackle long, complex recipes.
I have two cats - Mosi (a long-haired orange cat) and Peeta (a short-haired tabby). And recently we got a puppy named Seru.
I love reading books on quantum physics, astrophysics, gardening, sustainability, and positive psychology practices. Really, I just love learning but I have a very short memory span.
I have studied at one point (but likely can’t speak): Swahili, Ancient Greek, Korean, Icelandic, and Russian.
As a child, I had a propensity for getting in trouble. If you’re interested, you can ask me about any of the following times:
I brought a chick to school once.
I sold bootleg perfume to my elementary school classmates.
I walked into a random person’s house on my way to school because I thought she was a witch.
I started a spy club with the neighborhood kids and spied on neighbors.
I got on a neighbor’s horse bareback while it was near the fence.
